Have you ever fallen in love with a place? Been so completely entranced by the beauty, the culture, the energy that you know that is where you want to spend the rest of your life? Well, 12-year old me fell in love the first time she stepped foot in Rome. Nine years later, I’m finally getting the chance to realize my younger self’s dream of living in Italy.

Hi, my name is Rachel and I’m a third year at Oberlin College studying psychology and statistics. Years of family trips abroad learning about the progression of Western civilization (thanks Grandma!) have fostered a love of travel and I hope to one day visit all seven continents. Some of my favorite more affordable pastimes include hiking, walking with my beautiful dog, photographing my beautiful dog, being outside with my beautiful dog, watching a few too many movies with my beautiful dog, and eating lots of cashew butter and other health foods.

For my Winter Term 2020 project, I am travelling to Milan, Italy for two weeks to see my friend from high school. Visiting with an Italian native gives me a unique opportunity to see the more authentic side of Italy. On this blog, I will document my cultural and culinary experiences in both words and images.
